    State of Emergency Expanded to 9 Additional Counties

    January 23, 2017

    Governor Deal has expanded his previous state of emergency to nine additional counties due to severe weather in South Georgia. Counties now included under the state of emergency are: Atkinson, Baker, Berrien, Brooks, Calhoun, Clay, Colquitt, Cook, Crisp, Dougherty, Lowndes, Mitchell, Thomas, Turner, Wilcox and Worth.

    State of Emergency Declared for 7 South GA Counties

    January 23, 2017

    Governor Deal has declared a state of emergency for the following South Georgia counties due to severe storms this weekend: Atkinson, Berrien, Brooks, Colquitt, Cook, Lowndes and Thomas.​

    This state of emergency is in effect until 11:59pm on January 29.

    Deal Includes Additional Counties in South GA State of Emergency

    January 6, 2017

    Governor Deal has expanded his State of Emergency for South Georgia counties affected by a tornado earlier this week to include Turner and Worth.

    The full list of counties includes: Baker, Calhoun, Mitchell, Dougherty, Turner and Worth.​

    Deal Declares State of Emergency for 4 South Georgia Counties

    ​January 5, 2017

    Governor Nathan Deal has declared a state of emergency for four South Georgia counties (Calhoun, Mitchell, Baker, and Dougherty) that were affected by a tornado this week.

    “The state is making all resources available to our local partners to assist with damage assessment, cleanup and restoration efforts,” said Deal. “We will continue working with GEMHSA and local EMAs to ensure the safety and well-being of our residents in the affected areas.”
