The 2026 Barron Thorpe Supplier of the Year Award
Swisher's Tony Viola Honored

At our recent Convention, we were honored to present Swisher International's Tony Viola with the 2026 Barron Thorpe Supplier of the Year Award. Below is the introduction speech. This speech was given by GACS President, Angela Holland, CAE.
I know I say this every year, but this is one of the biggest highlights of the year for me. It is an honor to present the Barron Thorpe Supplier of the Year Award. Honestly, it’s a pleasure to see the long list of nominees. And that always makes the award so much more special to bestow. 

If limited to only one word to describe this year’s nominee, it is brave.  For a lot of reasons, but primarily because of his willingness to be vulnerable. Sometimes, his bravery shows in the comments he makes.  He can say the things that you aren’t supposed to say out loud. By doing so, he offers thoughtful, well-informed insight that adds meaningful value to every discussion. Always, his bravery shows in his actions. Running for an elected office, which he did just a few years ago, as a republican in a democratic district, takes a tremendous amount of bravery. 
Now you see, I am not limited to only one word to describe this year’s nominee. Another word that comes to mind is consistent. This year's winner has remarkably been with the same company for nearly 25 years, while also moonlighting in his community as a business partner with his wife of more than 20 years. Speaking of community, he’s lived in the same city for over 30 years, raised 3 children, two girls and a son, where he spent 24 years coaching youth soccer and 15 years in HOA committee leadership. 
I cannot remember a time at GACS when he was NOT a member. As a matter of fact, I can only recall ONE GACS event that he has missed in many, many years. He’s one of the most consistent and reliable members in our membership. His dedication and perspective make him a trusted and impactful contributor to this organization and his customers.
