Local People, Local Service
Coca-Cola UNITED’s Commitment to Georgia

For more than a century, Coca-Cola has been a familiar sight in corner stores, gas stations, and neighborhood markets across Georgia.

From the red coolers by the front door, to the delivery trucks making their daily rounds, Coca-Cola UNITED has grown up alongside the state’s communities. What makes the company unique isn’t just the iconic brands on the shelf — it’s the local people behind them.

With 19 facilities across Georgia, Coca-Cola UNITED runs on a hometown model: associates live in the very communities they serve. They know the roads, they know the store owners, and they take pride in making sure shelves are stocked, and customers are smiling. For convenience store operators, that means more than a delivery — it means a partner who understands their business.

We sat down with Victor Ragland, Vice President of Coca-Cola UNITED’s Atlanta Division, to talk about what keeps the company so connected to local businesses, why community relationships matter, and where he sees Coca-Cola UNITED headed in the years ahead.

Q: Coca-Cola UNITED has been part of Georgia communities for generations. What values keep your team so connected to people and businesses here?

A: Our guiding philosophy is simple: Associates First. I believe you’re only as good as your people, and I’ve been fortunate to work alongside some of the very best. When our associates feel supported, they in turn give their best to customers and to the community.

I started my Coca-Cola journey back in 1988 as a merchandiser in Oxford, Alabama. And here in Georgia, every one of our local leaders began in a frontline role—stocking shelves, driving trucks, and learning the business from the ground up. That matters because when they’re making decisions today, they know what it’s like to be in the stores, working side-by-side with owners and managers.

For us, this isn’t just a job. It’s about building careers and relationships that last decades. That’s why we continue to invest in training, payroll, and culture. When our people grow, our customers and communities grow, too.

Q: Convenience stores are such a backbone in Georgia’s cities and towns. Why is supporting local communities so central to UNITED?

A: Our business is built on a local operating model. That means our 19 facilities across Georgia aren’t run from some distant office — they’re run by the people who live right there in the community. Our teams drive every road, know every corner store, and take pride in making sure their neighbors are taken care of.

The truth is, we’ve had relationships with some Georgia cities and businesses for more than a hundred years. That kind of trust is rare, and we don’t take it for granted. At the end of the day, we want Coca-Cola UNITED to be the best partner we can be — making sure your shelves are stocked, your customers are happy, and your community is thriving.

Q: As Georgia continues to grow, what does the future look like for Coca-Cola UNITED — and for your partners in the market?

A: When the state grows, we grow too. That means capital investments in infrastructure and constantly looking for smarter ways to serve our customers. Whether it’s new technology that makes deliveries smoother, better tools for associates, or programs that help our teams serve stores more efficiently, the goal is always the same: to make life easier for the people we work with every day.

But more than anything, our future is about people. Right now, we are developing a new structured training program for our frontline associates. We’ll keep investing in our associates, because when they’re equipped and empowered, they can provide the kind of service that convenience store owners expect from Coca-Cola — dependable, local, and personal.
