March 3-5 in Washington, DC was a very successful week thanks to the NACS Government Relations Team! Starting early on Tuesday morning, NACS members spent the day in conference learning how currently proposed or soon to be proposed bills effect retail convenience store owners & operators. Among the topics were tax reform, data security and menu labeling.
Of the 14 Georgia Representatives, your Georgia delegation was able to spend a few minutes of quality time with 12 of them! We encourage you to join us in 2016. It is truly our duty to represent our industry’s issues on both a state and federal level and we guarantee this will be an event you will never forget!

The increasing customer demand for fresh produce at convenience stores, combined with advances in distribution and merchandising has created new opportunities for produce providers, distributors and convenience store retailers to grow sales. NACS has created with United Fresh a 27 page report entitled “Building the Business Case for Produce at Convenience Stores”. DOWNLOAD REPORT.

If you missed GACS’ Legislative Reception & Day on the Hill, you missed a very impactful & big event!
This year, GACS hosted nearly 20 retailer and supplier members at the Capitol during the morning hours before the legislative reception. Each member took time to introduce themselves to their elected officials and invite them to the reception. Those of us who spoke to officials that were not able to be at the reception, we able to ask for them to keep our industry and the jobs we provide in mind as they vote for or against legislation this year.
After lunch, we had the privilege to sit in on the House Regulated Industries Committee Meeting as well as the House Ways & Means Committee Meeting. Both were organizational meetings, but gave us insight as to where events take place on the Capitol Grounds & how our lobbyist spend their days on the hill.
We encourage ALL members to join us for a full day next year!
