Georgia's trusted legislative advocate for the convenience store industry
Daily during Georgia's legislative session, which typically begins the second Tuesday in January and extends through April, your GACS staff monitors legislation under Georgia's Gold Dome in Atlanta. With a cohesive voice, convenience store owners and operators are represented by GACS President Angela Holland along with the contract lobbying firm Stone Bridge Consulting.
Each year, hundreds of bills affecting the convenience store industry are introduced. The GACS lobbying team represents the industry's interest with legislators and regulators. Whether it is simply monitoring bills, testifying on behalf of the industry or working with legislators/attorneys to draft legislation, we are there for the industry! While GACS offers exceptional representation, legislators need to here from their constituents. As such, GACS in combination with industry affiliates Georgia Beverage Association & the Georgia Food Industry Association hosts an annual Legislative Reception in Atlanta generally held the last Tuesday of January. It's vitally important for members to participate and be heard! A unified industry speaks so much louder as a whole. |
“GACS gives us peace of mind that we’ll never miss any legislative or regulatory changes that may impact our business. Angela and her team have also been helpful in connecting us with state agencies to swiftly resolve challenges that would have negatively affected our business. They are an integral resource for the Georgia convenience store industry.” "How do I get involved?" |
GACS ACTION CENTER - GET INVOLVED!
The GACS action center allows us to connect members directly to legislators. With the click of a button, we can affectively match members to state and federal legislators. This unique system allows GACS to issue "Calls to Action" asking members to call or email legislators a pre-written letter (or phone script) of a specific issue. As a specific example, during the 2020 legislative session, GACS was able to notify members of a house vote. Within 30 minutes, members were contacting legislators and house members voted in YOUR favor of a house bill.
GACS PAC - Political Action Committee
In 1987 GACS established GACSPAC, a political action committee to support legislators who support the convenience store industry. As a state PAC, GACSPAC accepts UNLIMITED personal and/or corporate contributions subject to state guidelines and limits. Contributions to GACSPAC are not deductible as a business expense.
